Appearance & Personality
What does he or she look like? Meghan, in truth, conveys the image of innocence. It’s no wonder her personality seems to match.
Long, reddish-brown hair that falls past her shoulders is a trait directly from her mother. Slight, natural golden highlights are scattered throughout Meghan’s locks, however much she wishes to make the strands darker - though Mrs. Manning has long since banished the idea of hair-colouring products. Healthy-looking and shiny; Meghan takes extremely good care of her hair. Split ends are nonexistent, as are broken strands. Naturally curled, the girl will often keep her locks that way, though often she might be found straightening it, braiding it, or putting it up in a ponytail or bun to keep it out of her way.
Bright, round, orb-like eyes stare back at anything looking at them. The colour is an extremely bright green; though towards the pupils, the irises are more of a sea green colour. Meghan’s eyes have the ability to express emotions - intensity, happiness, and malice can all easily find their way to the disks within seconds, and her eyes are often compared to a tumultuous storm; though normally, they portray the look of someone extremely happy or sad. Though, however odd and angry-looking as they may be, Meghan’s eyes are actually very lovely, and one of the other traits she had inherited from her mother.
A heart-shaped face adds even more to Meghan’s contradictory look. Slightly oval and with a long neck, her face is full of pretty, delicate features - a straight, small nose; full lips; naturally tinted cheeks. High cheekbones sometimes give her a look of snobbishness, but contrasting pale, pink lips contradict them.
Her body stature is admirable for a fourteen-year-old girl. She stands quite short at 5’4, but that doesn’t stop Meghan. With noticeable curves, she has a nice shape; the girl went through puberty at age eleven. As for style, clothes in her closet may range from gowns to jeans to sundresses, depending on what day you look through it. Meghan has a well-proportioned body, though her legs are slightly longer than normal.
Her skin is tanned and smooth, and a small sprinkling of freckles are scattered across her nose. There are girls that claim Meghan’s skin unnatural and too well-tanned to be real, but she doesn’t care; nor does she let them live with that. Meghan is just that - herself - and even her appearance won’t change for the likes of you.
Which Celebrity do you desire to use? Miley Cyrus
What is he or she's personality? Meghan Manning is a girl with many different aspects. There are parts of her that stick out far more than others, though all in all, it’s wise to not write her off completely when first meeting the girl.
The first, most obvious thing about Meghan is her brilliance. Meghan Manning is a total genius - she’s quick as a whip and knows far more than most seniors at her school do. She’s always been the girl that gets good grades without being a nerd; the quiet one that somehow surpasses everyone else in intelligence. No matter what area of school it is; Meghan excels in it. She’s never gotten lower than a B in her life, and would like to keep it that way, thank you very much.
But if you don’t know Meghan well, chances are that you’re going to meet an extremely quiet girl that feels rather awkward talking to people. Meghan doesn’t like conversing at all if she doesn’t have to; except with those she loves and cares about. While she’s never been popular, she’s never really cared about popularity, either. She’s not good at interacting with other people, and often finds herself tripping over her tongue when trying to talk with those she doesn’t know well.
However, Meghan is extremely funny, once you get to know her. Her brilliance ties into wit, and though her sense of humor is a bit dry at times, many people often find her pleasant to joke around with - at least, once she learns how to talk to them. Meghan loves jokes of all sorts, and while she doesn’t share them with the whole world, will often do so with close friends and family.
Extremely observant and with a good attention to detail, Meghan’s memory rather resembles a steel trap - stuff goes in, and it never comes out. Rather good with anything you ask her to remember, Meghan can recall complete conversations that happened months ago, and names and faces are no hard task for her to store in her mind.
Yet another part of Meghan is her quote-on-quote “dark side”. Meghan is extremely cunning and manipulative when need be. After ruling over her older sister for so many years, she’s learned how to give people what they want while getting what she wants at the same time. Because of her brilliance, Meghan’s dark side is a force to be reckoned with, and one should never take her too lightly.
Oddly enough, Meghan is a rather humble person. She never would brag about her riches, and though she appreciates them in every way, tries not to make them a large part of her life. Unlike Kacey, Meghan doesn’t spend money every day. She’s the type of girl that will save it up and use it on one thing she really wants, rather than a few little things she sort-of does.
As for being emotional, Meghan isn’t much. She can take insults and can definitely dole them out - thanks to her wit and smarts. But if you insult her, chances are good Meghan will let it roll right off her back. She doesn’t really care what you think, thank you very much. If you’re not close to her, you’re not really important in the first place, so why should she care?
When dealing with friends and family, Meghan is completely loyal. Though quiet, she will always be there for those who have done so to her, and with her steel-trap memory, will remember every kind - and unkind - thing that you do or say to her. Because of this, she’s extremely loyal and sweet to those she cares about, never once letting down a friend when they truly need it.
Overall, Meghan is a complicated girl. Though she may appear to be completely one-sided, don’t write her off completely when you first meet her. Because if you do, you’ll miss out on a brilliant, funny girl that is a fiercely loyal friend.
What are your hobbies? What are your interests?: Meghan absolutely loves to ride horses. With the money her family has, her ‘dreams’ easily became a reality when she was around 6 years old, and the Manning family purchased horses and a stable for their younger daughter. Meghan has been participating in [and winning] championships for many years now, and it’s not odd to find her at the stables or with her horses.
Secondly, she loves to read and write. A definite bookworm, it’s not odd to find Meghan holed up in her room, writing her latest work of fiction, poem or song. There’s some sort of freedom in expressing yourself that she just loves; though Meghan would never let anyone see what she’s writing. Claiming it’s ‘too personal’, she’s afraid of harsh criticism, and stashes her works in a tin box in her room and/or dorm.
Another thing Meghan loves is music. With a beautiful voice and talent for both the guitar and writing music, most people wouldn’t expect it from such a girl. But Meghan’s melodic voice can often be heard wafting through the Manning household when she’s working on a new song, accompanied by the soft strumming of an acoustic guitar.
Photography is another favorite of Meghan, and her camera collection is quite nice, thanks to some funding from her parents. She has at least 5 cameras, and being the perfectionist she is, keeps them in great condition all year long. Meghan has books full of pictures of her friends, family and pets.
Family, History, and Home Life
Parents: Carter and Alyson Manning (nee: Clarke)
Siblings: Kacey Alyson Manning; 16; junior; older sister
Any Siblings currently in attendance at Lionel?: Kacey is attending this year as a junior.
Pets: a border collie, Sammy; various horses
When not at school, where do you live?: Los Angeles
Do you have a job during the year? What are your plans for the summer?: If it was up to Meghan, she would spend her whole summer in her room writing, reading and playing music; or in the stables, riding her beloved horses. Sadly, those dreams aren’t exactly smiled upon by her parents, who are worried about their ‘socially inept’ daughter. So, the Mannings have a few things in store for Meghan this summer.
Firstly, they’ve signed her up for recording time and to work with a producer when she’s back home, in Hollywood. It’s no secret among the members of the Manning family that Meghan is exceptionally gifted in music, and her parents are encouraging this as best they can. Meghan’s actually very excited about this, but would never admit it. So excited, in fact, that she’s considering showing the producers the songs she’s written over the years. Who knows? Next summer, you might be buying Meghan Manning’s debut album.
The second thing her parents are forcing upon Meghan is a career in acting. As they’re constantly telling their daughter, she has looks, money and talent; why not go for it? But it’s not that Meghan is a bad actress, she simply isn’t a big people person - and acting requires people skills. But the Manning’s ignore her complaints, and are setting up an audition with a few big movie directors and TV show creators this summer so their daughter can be ‘discovered’.
Family Status and History Carter Manning was born into a family of extreme riches. He had everything, it seemed - intelligence, looks, wealth. You name it, Carter had it. However, he was an extremely thingyy young man, and always seemed to get whatever it was he wanted in life. And in high school, Carter wanted a young woman by the name of Alyson Clarke.
Alyson was a bright young woman, and beautiful, too. Sweet and quick to laugh or smile, she had many friends and was quite loved by most people that she met. However, Aly was dirt poor, and her family had almost no money to their name. Because of this, Alyson was brought up to believe that the heart was a much more important affair than money.
All throughout his high school career, Carter tried desperately to win over the young woman. He tried showering her with gifts, showing off, taking her places - but Alyson didn’t seem to care much. Why would he want such a poor girl, anyway? Everyone always believed Carter would marry a trophy wife; someone with as much money to their names as he - and Alyson Clarke was far from a trophy wife. Maybe it was the guaranteed scandal that made Carter so in love with her - after all, he always did love a challenge, a rebellion or a thrill.
Finally, Carter got Alyson to go out with him in their senior year. It was just a date, and she didn’t have a great time. Alyson was convinced that Carter wasn’t the man for her, but he was convinced otherwise, and asked her out again. With a sigh, Alyson accepted - she didn’t have much else to do, anyway. That cycle continued over the next year or so, until the couple graduated from high school.
They each went to a separate college, but somehow, promised to meet each other again after graduation. And when a 22-year-old Alyson met Carter again, something about him had changed. He was a bit more street-smart, a bit more worldly, and a whole lot nicer. They were soon married, and moved to Los Angeles, where Carter’s family lived, to start one of their own.
The couple had two daughters, the second born two years after the first. Kacey Alyson and Meghan Serena Carter were about as different as they could get. Kacey was dumb; Meghan was a total genius. Kacey was a ditzy, blonde, cheerleader wannabe; Meghan was a quiet, socially inept brunette. But somehow, the two forged a friendship, and were close sisters. Meghan made all of Kacey’s important decisions, and seemed to have more power over her sister than one would imagine.
Though she was extremely wealthy, Meghan grew up a quiet girl. She was snubbed by other rich girls; the brats didn’t much like her bookworm demeanor and lack of people skills. But Meghan didn’t care; she was far more engrossed in the company of books than to give a second thought to people as ridiculous as those girls. Her lower and middle school experiences weren’t exceptional.
Sure, Meghan got the highest grades in her class, but she didn’t talk to many teachers. For the most part, she spent her school career until high school riding horses, making music, reading, writing, and helping Kacey. And all of that was fine with Meghan.
But this year, she’s being sent to a school full of wealthy, rich, famous students. And this year, Meghan just might want to make a name for herself. Hey, it could happen - after all, anything’s possible.
Extras:
Special family relations?: No one’s quite sure where the Manning fortune came from; it’s always been there for the children of the family.
Special family possessions: a locket that’s been passed down through generations, and has been given to Meghan instead of Kacey, for some odd reason.
Anything else you'd like us to know? fantasmagorical?
Sample RP: There were few people dumb or brave enough to venture into the Astronomy Tower late at night. At least, brave or dumb were the normal adjectives you’d think to describe the adventure with. And though Miley was indeed bold and not at all cowardly, she had grown to despise the word ‘brave’ over the past four years. ‘Brave’ was a sign of Gryffindors; Miley was a Slytherin. So whenever a word was needed to describe as being unafraid, the young girl opted for similar choices such as bold, courageous, chivalrous, etc.
But it wasn’t really Miley’s bravery that had propelled her to the Tower, late at night. It was more or less her sense of peace; her sense of needing somewhere to sort out the thoughts clouding up her young mind. The girl was in dire need of some deep thinking, an action she hadn’t really taken yet this year. After all, it wasn’t as if a normal fourteen-year-old girl would have much deep thinking to do. Then again, normal had never been a good word to describe Miley Nott.
With a sigh, the girl headed up towards the tower, clad in sweatpants and a Weird Sisters T-shirt. As much as Miley hated muggles, she had to admit - they were far more on the mark of ‘good clothing’ than the idiot wizard designers. After all, robes? They were boring, cliché, stuffy and annoying. Miley could hardly stand the itchy material for a minute at a time, let alone hours upon end like her parents. The girl had promised herself never to succumb to robes; it was something she’d decided at a very early age.
Her footsteps made a light, padding noise against the stairs to the Tower. She’d opted for not wearing shoes or socks; they slowed Miley’s movement and made a louder sound than bare feet. And if she didn’t want to get a detention for being out on the grounds past curfew, the less sound the better. Not that Miley was afraid of detention. Please - she’d had about as many as Fred and George combined for her rebellions and misbehavior. Rather, Miley just didn’t want to be interrupted by idiot professors on her quest for deep thought.
Finally, she reached the Tower, and with the smallest of sighs, entered the cold, dark room. The stars were the only source of light in the small, conical room, and Miley thanked the clouds for leaving her alone on such a night. Normally, she preferred the rain to the sun, but a natural bit of light was welcome sometimes, even by one as cold as Miley Nott.
She lifted her small body onto the window frame, pulling the wand out of its pocket in her sweatpants. Miley leaned against one of the sides of the window frame, not worried about falling. Falling was for muggles and idiots; she was neither. A smart witch would know how to keep herself on a windowsill, and besides - Miley was nimble enough to stay where she put herself.
As soon as she was perched on her ledge, the thoughts came flying into Miley’s brunette head. The way everyone had been acting lately - perfectly good Slytherins like Erinn Vaisey were falling for Weasleys, of all people! And what about Andie? Her best friend had more than a small crush on her idiot Gryffindor friend, Cael.
And…well, there was that Longbottom boy, Luke. He’d positively stalked Miley since their first year at Hogwarts, barely ever leaving her alone. Miley, extremely annoyed by the unwelcome intruder, had shoved him away every chance she got. If she wanted to be Slytherin Queen by her sixth year, she couldn’t be associated with people like that! Yes, it was guilt by association. And though her best friend was a Potter, Andie was a Slytherin. With Miley’s love of rebellion and talent to sway the masses, her goals were become less and less far away.
At least, that was how it had looked, last time she’d checked. But that Longbottom boy wouldn’t give up! And every time she saw Luke tripping through the hallways, Miley could have sworn her heart started beating a little - just a little bit faster. She couldn’t like him, could she? No, no. That was definitely not right. But one thing was definitely for sure in Miley’s world - it was turning upside down, and Miley was stuck in the middle, stumbling faster every second. So much for not being able to fall.
