This is set before the Opera Populaire went down in flames:
Link :The Point of Returning
Christine Daae, as a young child, an Angel appeared to her and sang to her in her dreams. As age 6, her father was on his last days, growing weaker everyday. He told her, "When I am in Heaven child, I will send you an Angel, an Angel of Music." At age 7, Christine became and Orphan.
A woman, who taught ballet at the Opera Populaire in Paris, traveled to their home to take in the Swedish Violinist's only daughter. Madame Giry, took her to the Opera Populaire to train with her daughter, Meg Giry. Christine trained to become a ballerina in the Corps de Ballet along with Meg and dormed with them.
Over the years, the workers of the Opera Populaire believed in a Phantom, a man who lived there for years and haunted their very Opera House. The man was said to be immortal. But truthfully, he was an ordinary man not appreciated for his music or for who he was.
This 'Phantom' was the Angel who appeared to Christine in her dreams when she was a child. His name was Erik Destler. When he was born, his mother refused to name him for the distortion upon his face. He was baptized by a Priest and was named Erik (sounds like 'Eric') after the Priest.
Erik's mother would make him wear a cloth since he was a child to hide his face. One day, Erik finally was tired of not being accepted. He ran away from home, not to be found. He came across a traveling fair, seeking to steal food. He was captured by them, and they used him for their fair.
Erik was put into a bared cage, and was called 'Devil's Child' for his looks. The fair traveled to Paris and to the Opera Populaire. When Madame Giry was a child, her and the other ballerina's went to see the fair. They came across where Erik was, a sack was over his head to hide the distortion.
He was beaten and people gave money to see it. After everyone had left, Erik hung his capture to his death. Madame Giry took him in when she was a child herself, and hid him away from the world. Erik, the Phantom, had tutored Christine to sing while she was at the Opera Populaire.
He played tricks to get her the lead roles, thinking she would love him back. His plan had backfired, and he was about to lose her to the patron, Raoul de Changy. Will Christine leave with Raoul? Will she go to the Phantom? You have to join to see...
((Note, this will be different then the movie/film.))
