Not used to being the semi-center of attention, Emily Daniela Lionel had grown extremely nervous. She'd known that her family was rich, and owned an awesome school, and that the Lionels were pretty well-known, but it hadn't really hit her until she'd walked through the crystal-clear double doors and stepped foot in the immaculate lobby. Lissie, her obnoxious sister, had shrieked "EMMY!" and run over to give her a hug. Emily had merely raised an eyebrow and let Lissie almost suffocate her, curious as to the cause of the friendliness. Her sister's idea of bonding was throwing overstuffed pillows at her and pointing perfectly manicured fingers in the door's direction, all while screaming "GET OUT!" and threatening her.
Either way, in a matter of seconds, Lissie's bizarre posse that somehow managed to be everywhere she was, instantly, had swarmed around her. Asking questions, chattering, smiling, even poking-it was all just too much for her. Emily had been carrying a small bag, in addition to her skateboard (she was wearing her helmet) but she just dropped it and fled the scene entirely. People were calling after her, but she was freaking out. In fact, she had attempted to skate over freshly cut lawns several times before she'd realized her wheels kept getting stuck in ruts. She tied her long, sleek blonde hair back, picked up the board, and ran until her legs gave out.
So, somehow, she'd ended up here. On a bench in the "Recreational Fields" (at least, that's what the sign said), exhausted, and kinda sweaty. In fact, she didn't even mind too much that she was alone. Taking her hair out of her ponytail, she subconciously began to braid it, and thought wistfully about how her favourite hat had been brutally dropped on the floor at Lionel. She shuddered a bit. It was so weird, going to a school called her last name...something she couldn't quite adjust to.
Emily pulled her knees up near her, brushing some dirt absentmindedly off her knee. She was in her favorite jeans, ones with slight rips around the knee, due to her wearing them consistently. Her mother would have had a heart attack and died to see her enter school dressed in such a fashion, but, thankfully, she wasn't there right at that moment. She sighed, leaned back, and blew some slight bangs off of her face. Sometimes life could just be so strange!

Risdon, other wise known as Iken, was standing not to far from the Lionel sisters. One was in his grade the other he knew was a year younger then he. Iken was quiet aware that the older Lionel knew him. What had been her name...He pulled out his little black book. It was actually a tad far from little. It had every kid in there. He may have not known the person, personally, but he had their name, picture, clique, and grade they were in. He looked up to the two sisters, and saw that the slightly smaller one with the skateboard in hand was Emily and the one he knew was in his class was Lissie. He licked his lower lip as he watched Lissie taunt and prod Emily. No Iken was all for teasing the younger siblings, but his younger siblings were six, they were almost ten years younger then him. He watched as he knew Emily couldn't take any more of her sister and bursted out of there, dropping her bag as if it had no meaning to her.
He had been watching from a far, obeserving you could say. Not stalking, but observing. He watched as some of the other students called out her name and just continued to watch. From a distance he could see she had tried to skateboard through the grass, not really succeding, and then broke out into a sprint. He averted his eyes back to the forgotten bag that lay on the floor. Iken took a double take around the room and sprinted to her bag picking it up quickly, as if not bending down at all to pick it up and out the door. He stood outside holding the young Lionel's bag and wondered where she had run off to. Literally. Running his fingers through his thick brown hair he looked around.
Walking up to a fellow classmate he asked if she had been seen. Iken questioned if he saw which way she had went, and after a few distractions from the moron he finally pointed in the direction she was in. Risdon nodded his head in thanks and walked quickly into the direction of the Recreational Feilds. It actually took him longer then expected. So many of his classmates would stop and talk to him asking about weekend plans, and as much as Risdon loved planning parties, he had set out to return the bag to Emily. One girl had actually got him against the lockers, nuzzling her nose into his polo. He wasn't too much surprised, it has happened before, but on accident. This girl though didn't seem to know or care if it were an accident. He just pulled away from her and continued to set towards where Emily would be.
When he got to the Rec Feilds, he found her sitting on a bench with her knees pulled to her chest. He took the moment to tilt his head to the side to figure out what she was doing. Thinking, most likely, unless she was spacing. Then his feet started to move in his direction. He was in his white polo and a pair of loose jeans. He moved to sit next to her, notcing small wisps of her hair fly up from her face. Risdon ran his fingers frontwards flattening it and stood next to her. "Um...Emily?" He said in a bit of an usure tone.
He stood in front of her before setting her bag down on the floor next to her skateboard. "Quite a burst out you had back there." Risdon commented as he jerked his thumb over his shoulder. He shoved his hands in his pockets. This wasn't the first time he talked to Emily. He was invited over to their house once and he had accepted. He had said hi to her and she just had given him a small smile. "Mind if I sit down?" He asked in a calm voice. He didn't exactly want to freak her out.

One of Emily's greater qualities was her ability to look lost in deep thought when, in actuality, all she was doing was spacing. This talent came in handy in order to avoid teachers, family members, and, apparently, other people. Hearing something in the distance, she looked out of the corner of her eye and nearly screamed. Since when had this tall guy been standing next to her? Upon closer inspection, she could tell by his faint smile, and the way he kept looking at her, that he was waiting for a response from her.
But what could he have been saying? Not much, seeing as this was the first time she'd noticed him, and therefore they wouldn't have had much of a conversation. Her eyes darted around, sizing the guy up-but she stopped herself immediately. Sizing people up was a huge trait of the Lionel family, and Emily didn't want to be just another one. Well, she did, but she still kinda felt like rebelling. Not as much as her twin, Liam, obviously but god forbid she turned out to be just like Lissie.
However, before she'd made herself stop she realized he had something in his hand. It was pale yellow, with a small flower embroidered in one corner and a huge ink splatter on the back. Wait, that wasn't an ink splatter. It was a note! A note from Miley Stewart, her best friend back home! How did that guy get that bag.....oh wait! It was hers! She must have dropped it in the lobby.....but he brought it to her! Yay!
Slightly embarassed by the whole lobby-and-ditch scene, a little light pink crept into her cheeks. Emily began to twirl the ends of one of her braids very lightly around her finger. She looked up, shielding her eyes from the sun a bit, and her face broke into a wide grin.
"Omigosh! Thanks for bringing my bag!" Somehow, she'd miraculously stopped herself from going on one of her infamous Emily rants when she gives all the details of every story, and usually bores the person to death.
"Umm, you can sit down, you know." Emily had grinned sheepishly, scooted over on the bench, and patted the space next to her lightly. She secretly noted to herself that he was definitely cute, but brushed the thought out of her mind. Emily never got the guy.
She turned and awaited his response. He did look somewhat farmiliar....

Iken noticed that she hadn't even responded to anything he had even say. He raised an eyebrow at her surprised that she didn't seem to notice him until reality hit her. He saw a blush run over her cheeks and he had to grin. He had no idea why but he felt embarassed just bringing her, her bag. He noticed how she twirled a small strand of her hair braid in her fingers and he thought it was cute on the way she did so. He licked his lower lip, out of habit and felt a bit stupid. He wasn't supposed to think the headmaster's daughter-freshmen daughter- was cute.
Though he was a bit surprised when she squealed. His eyes got slightly wide and a bit confused. He didn't think she was the type of girl who...the type of girl to go "Oh my god! I haven't seen you in like forever!" When the last time they saw each other was an hour ago. He got so annoyed by those kind of girls. But he found that he's dated so man of those girls though, but never really stayed with them. He raised an eyebrow but nodded never the less.
"No, problem." Risdon said shrugging and shoved scratched the back of his neck and then pushed his hand back into his pocket. He watched as she moved over and invited him to sit down. He didn't really know what he could do just there sitting next to her. But Risdon sat there anyways. He ran his fingers through his hair once more. "Skateboarder." He said more then questioned. He himself knew a couple of moves. He was pretty good himself.
He always wanted to try something new and two years ago he wanted to try to skateboard and he learned how to do so. "Wanna show me some of your moves?" He asked a bit curious. "Actually if you want I can run back and get mine?" He said turning his head towards her. "We can go down to the skatepark, or something?" Iken offered. She looked someone worth talking too and maybe she could be...no...he shook his head. She was the headmaster's daughter you don't date the headmaster's daughter.
But he found that she was much cuter then her sister, even though her sister was his age.

Emily mentally yelled at herself. Did she seriously just 'omigosh' ? Thankfully, it wasn't a habit, but when she got excited, that was usually her fallback term. While the guy was talking, she noticed the way he continually ran his hands through his hair, and she thought that was really cute. Then she shook her head-well, almost, seeing as even relatively ditzy Emily knew that shaking your head, randomly, while someone was talking to you? Yeah, that would be weird. He's probably Lissie's friend. I probably shouldn't even bother with him. However, her ears perked at the sound of skateboarding.
"You skate?! No way!" she almost shrieked, incredulously, her already huge eyes widening like saucers. Emily winced at the volume of her own voice. "Umm, yeah, totally. I can wait here, while you grab your board or-I mean, we could walk over together or....okay, whatever works for you!" she babbled on. She could never quite tell if she sounded too much like her sister, or too much like a five-year-old. Slightly embarassed once again, she averted her eyes, darting around the fields, until he would respond.
Emily had to admit, she was excited. This guy was cute! And brought her her bag. And was talking to her, and even invited her to go skateboard with him! Although she still missed her friends back home...maybe this place wouldn't be so bad after all. Who said she would have a bad time, or not have any friends? Granted, the scene in the lobby half an hour ago was a tad mortifying, but that's one morning on one day out of 190. She'd get over it!
"So," she continued, her beautiful eyes sparkling "Wanna meet back here, or at the skate park?" Emily almost added "I bet it's deserted right now" but at the risk of a lowly freshman sounding like she was making advances on the obviously popular sophomore? Noo way. Plus, that would have been totally embarassing too. What if he was just being nice? Her happiness deflated a bit. He probably was, but oh well. She'd deal. A skate buddy for the day would be fun, even if it wouldn't last. It'd be nice to get her mind off of all this crazy stuff, even if only for an hour or two..

There were a couple things Iken found out about Emily Lionel that day. First off, she was a skater. Second off, she had the tedency of running off. Third of all, she was a bit spazzy. "Yeah I know a few moves here and there." He thingyed an eyebrow on how high she asked her question. He felt something in the pit of his stomach happening. Was she one of the girls who would always giggle at everything he said. Oh god he hoped not, otherwise it would be weird to hang around her. But he wanted to give her a fair chance. He chuckled slightly when she started to ramble. He was making her nervous, and he could understand that. If he was a freshman and a sophmore of his standards came up to him of course he'd be nervous. But she was rambling, and he didn't know he was making her that nervous.
"You can come with me if you want." Truthfully he wanted to know a little bit more about her. Wanted to know if she was anything like her sister or her brothers. He stood up and picked up her bag for her. He didn't know why, but he would feel rude if he didn't. "The skatepark should be deserted." He extended his arm out and then back to him to see the time. It was nearing six and usually people were somewhere else by then.
Taking a look at her, he continued his observation only not from a distance. He noticed that she was really easy on the eyes. That she had really blue eyes, and her hair was blonde cascadding down her shoulders. He gave her a quick grin and adjusted the strap on his shoulder. He didn't know why he was doing this. Returning her bag to her, inviting her skateboarding with him. He usually reamined to himself. He noted that when he was nervous he had the tendcy of running his hand through his hair, and then mentally smacked himself. He had done that so many times. Why was he nervous? It didn't make sense for him.
"Unless you just want to meet me at the park? Then I'm fine with that." Risdon said in a clam tone surprisingly to him. He felt the urge to run his fingers through his hair once more, but he felt he's done it to much. He licked his lower lip and raised an eyebrow at her waiting for her answer.

Sort of tuning him out, Emily realized he probably thought she was a complete flake. Running out in a situation like that? Okay, it's one thing to get flustered or nervous, but to spaz completely...and then run? She must have seemed like a total basketcase! But, whatever. What did she need to prove? It's not like she'd ever see this guy again, probably. And at the moment, it seemed like they weren't destined to be such great friends-I mean, come on, she didn't even know his name!
Jumping off her thought train, Emily Lionel returned to the real world just in time to see the cute guy ask for her to join him at the skate park, and offer her his arm. She grinned, hopefully not foolishly, and took it. "No, no, it's fine-to the skate park we go!" Briefly, she bent down to pick up her bag, and realized it wasn't there. About to freak out, she looked up suddenly and realized that the boy was holding it already. A slight nervous laugh and an embarassed grin later, and they were off!
They'd only been walking for a moment or two when Emily began to feel terribly awkward. Here she was, walking with linked arms to a popular sophomre guy, anyone could have seen them, and she didn't even know his name! Suddenly, she felt kinda bad. She didn't want his friends to make fun of him for hanging around with her, and she couldn't help but be a little suspicious as to why he was hanging out with her! Forget it. Be in the moment. Be in the moment. She shook her head discreetly, deciding that she wouldn't let this guy make her nervous. He already seemed a little on edge himself, and though she found that somehow irresistable, Emily couldn't help but feel as if she were the source of it.
A few more paces, and she stopped. Turning to the guy, she questioned "You know what I just realized?" Emily smiled. "I don't even know your name!" Her deep blue eyes grew large again, in anticipation of his answer. A year ago, she would have bit her thumbnail and giggled, not to mention blushed, waiting for his response. But she felt more grown up now. She fourteen, she was at boarding school....hell, she was Emily Lionel! She could probably rule the freshman class, if she really wanted to.
Wow. She thought to herself.I really need to stop watching those soap operas. Then, she added Although, it was only those few times last year, when I was sick...and that once, with Miley...and that once to impress Jake, because he said that was his favorite...little did I know, he was kidding..... She turned back to the boy, awaiting his response.

Risdon didn't honestly think she'd do that. Just he thought she'd feel embarrassed. But when she did he couldn't help but smile. The two of them walked for awhile to his dorm to get his board but then she stopped and stood in front of him. For a moment he thought she was going to tell him off or something, but when she didn't he sighed in releif. He blushed, he figured she would have known him. "We've met before. Risdon. Remeber, your sister invited me over to your house once. But if you want you can call me Iken, whatever works." Iken said his ears growing warm. "Sorry if I've made you feel akward." Risdon said looking else where but her. He felt his phone viberate in his back pocket and flipped it on. "uh...hang on." Iken said still embarrassed.
On the line was his dormmate. He looked up to see his dormmate on the balcony of their room. He rolled his eyes, but doubted he could see it. Iken all of a sudden hung up the phone, his friend had asked him if Emily was his girlfriend and if they were coming in, to show him (Him being his dormmate) 'the peice of ass'. Iken didn't look at her, embarassed at his friend. "Yeah...stay here. I'll go get my board." He said and sprinted through the doors and up all the way up to his room. When he got there he slammed the door to his dorm and started to yell at his friend, loudly. He grabbed his board and his helmet and hit his friend once more before running back out to her in almost four minutes flat.
"Sorry about that." He was sure she heard them. His dormmate was yelling things such as her name and some other crude words. He avoided her eyes though, still the embarrassment rising high. "If you want we can still go down to the skatepark." Risdon knew his social standards. He knew he was popular and had a good life, but he everytime he felt he was in this kind of situation he felt like that didn't matter. But never the less he shook out his hair and placed his helmet on top of his head. If she said no, which would probably be a sign of the apcolpyes, then he'd still go skate around.
"You still wanna?" He asked, for some reason, felt shy. Maybe it was just because he was an idiot who should have meantioned his name or maybe it was because she was the daughter of the headmaster, or...maybe he liked her? No. He just...no. He gave her a grin and thingyed his head to the side.

Confused at first by Risdon's sudden phone call, and then his running off, Emily realized she'd barely gotten the chance to recognize the boy or even introduce herself. Though, granted, someone a little older and with a better memory, who attends the family's school, visited the house and witnessed the Lissie shriekfest would at this point probably be aware of her identity. She shrugged it off and waited outside the dorm, tapping her foot patiently. Noticing a familiar sillouhette, she ducked towards the side of the building, briefly noting her twin's presence, along with some of his stoner buddies. She sighed exasperatedly and rolled her eyes, walking off to wait for Risdon without even saying a word to Liam and his pals. They disgusted her, anyway.
A moment or two later, Emily started to hear shouting. She couldn't quite distinguish what it was, but there were definitely two voices, both loud, and both angry. One sounded somewhat hurt. And when the voices raised even more, she started to grow nervous, and began tapping her foot unconciously. She could have sworn she'd heard her name, maybe even a "how dare you?" or something. It was really obvious that it was a problem of substantial proportions, so it really wouldn't concern her at all. Come on, she was little Emily Lionel. Barely crawling into her freshman year, and didn't quite recall this guy at all. Although, she would have thought she'd remember someone so sweet...and rather good-looking....
She pushed the thought from her mind. Nope, nope, he's a sophomore, he's popular, he's a friend of her sister's he's off-limits. The yelling ceased, and she looked up towards his window. Emily squinted, trying to see inside of it surrepticiously. Were they done? Who was it? What was that phone call......
Finally! Movement! The ground-floor door swung open, and Risdon came storming out. He was visibly distracted, possibly upset about something. What was that noise? Was he...muttering to himself? She arched an eyebrow. No, no, that was probably just a lawnmower or something. He offered to go to the skatepark again, looked directly into her eyes, and grinned. Emily bit her lip. She couldn't help but notice how incredibly cute he looked when he grinned. And if he didn't want to talk about whatever it was that just happened, well, then that was fine with her. Secretly, of course, she wanted to know what it was about, and if she'd actually heard her name mentioned. For now, just forget it. He still wants to go with you! She suppressed a giggle quite well, cleared her throat, and replied "Of course I do." Desperately hoping that wasn't the wrong thing to say, she grinned back at Risdon and announced "Oh, and I'm Emily, by the way." Yes, she was excited.

Risdon looked at her and grin still on his face as he clicked his helmet on. "Great let's go." As he said so he dropped his skateboard down and placed his foot on it. He wanted to get the words of his roommates words out of his mind. 'Your crushing on a freshman? Your so pathetic. Just use her and get it over with.' Iken mentally shuddered at the words. He was just talking about Emily with his friend and then he started to be a jack ass like usual. He looked at Emily and started to skate towards the skatepark.
He turned his head to her and nodded. "I know." He meantioned. "Your sister complains about you a lot." He paused in his words for a moment and looked back to her. "Don't know why she would say that though." When he got there she had been right. The park was empty. He loved it when it was like that. Usually he had to wait around really late after curfew. Sometimes he had to wait forever to just go in the bowl, which bothered him.
"Come on. Show me some of your moves." Iken said as he got haulted and grinned at her. One eye brow raised. Then he started to move again and jumped one of the benches and smirked at her. He didn't know why, but he liked being able to show off his moves. Normally when he was with a girl he couldn't really show them off as a way to impress. They normally thought it was immature.
But it felt good to be with a girl who liked to skate and do moves just as much as her.
